Jackson Hole Information

Nowhere but in Jackson Hole will you find so much natural beauty, so many opportunities for outdoor recreation, so much Western history and culture, and such a wide variety of dining and shopping in a relatively small area.

Set amidst the majestic splendor of Grand Teton National Park, Jackson Hole is a picturesque valley surrounded by five mountain ranges. To the north, lies world-famous Yellowstone National Park, while the authentic western town of Jackson lies in the southern portion of the valley.

The meeting schedule includes free afternoons for recreation and entertainment in the Jackson Hole area. Take advantage of the gorgeous weather for hikes in Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks, whitewater rafting or world-famous fly fishing. Spectacular float trips offer unique opportunities to spot wildlife such as bald eagle, moose, elk, deer, beaver, mink, and porcupine. There are world-class golf courses and a John Gardner tennis camp. Horseback rides, biking, and aerial trams all provide access to beautiful mountain trails with spectacular views and abundant wildlife.

Information about the Jackson Hole area, activities, and dining options can be found at the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce site, www.jacksonholechamber.com.  Your hotel concierge can also help you arrange the activities of your choice, help arrange a babysitter, and arrange transportation to and from the hotel.

Information for Grand Teton & Yellowstone National Parks can be found at www.nps.gov/parks.html

Life in Jackson Hole is very laid back, so pack casual, comfortable clothes – no business suits.  Dress code for the scientific sessions and social functions is resort casual.  If you’re going to do some hiking, bring sneakers or lightweight hiking boots. A water bottle is a necessity. And, if you plan to hike in the mountains, you’ll want to wear slacks or jeans and take a windbreaker or rain jacket for possible afternoon showers. Don’t forget your binoculars, camera, daypack, and field guide. In August, temperatures are generally warmer in the day (average high of 78° F / 26° C) and cooler at night (average low of 39° F / 4° C).
